WHY CHOOSE CITRIX?
In the current economic climate, it is crucial that
you find a way to stop the costs of your IT
resources from spiralling out of control. But how
can you develop, deliver and support every
application across your company while keeping
productivity levels up and costs down?
The answer is Citrix! Citrix allows you to deploy
an application installed on a server, and then
access that application across a network with any
published application icons visible on the client
desktop. The same published applications can even be
accessed via a web-browser, either internally or
across the Internet. Using Citrix Secure Gateway,
applications can be deployed on the Internet to
authenticated users with added security measures and
encryption. Even a small connection such as a 56k
modem will allow you to work in applications such as
Microsoft Office or bespoke applications which have
been developed specifically for your company. Any
updates or patches that need to be made to your
software are made just once on the Citrix server,
thus enabling your organisation to keep up with the
latest developments whilst reducing the total cost
of ownership.
In this way, the Citrix application server
solution can dramatically cut costs across your
entire organisation. Indeed, statistics show that
savings of over 50% can be made in hard costs such
as hardware, application maintenance, operating
systems and licensing. Also, huge savings can be
made in soft costs such as productivity and
training.
And don't forget - the bigger the organisation, the
bigger the cost savings.
Reduce the cost of your
IT ownership with Citrix.
HOW IT WORKS
Let's imagine you have a sales rep out on the road
who needs to access the company database. Using a
laptop, the user can access the Citrix hosted
application by dialling into the company network (or
by using an Internet connection depending on whether
your company has an Internet gateway) and enter the
Citrix login web address. He or she would then be
presented with the following dialogue box:

Citrix Login Box
This could be accessed at
any time of the day from anywhere in the world.
How's that for flexibility!
After successfully logging into the system, the
user would then be shown a menu listing the
available applications:

Your applications would be listed here.
Clicking on one of the icons would allow the user
to use the requested application as if it were
actually installed on the laptop. Any edited
documents could then either be saved back to a
networked server or to the users laptop. Needless to
say that any of the user's documents stored on the
server would be available for use at the same time -
finish that letter or expenses report you were
working on in the office from home!
