Remote Working
at a glance...
With fast
Internet connection speeds becoming increasingly
more common-place, the demand for remote working and
remote access facilities has increased dramatically.
Businesses understand the benefits of being able to
access their systems from home, or indeed anywhere
in the world, enabling up-to-the minute information
and data processing to be obtained.
Expandable IT have implemented a number of such
systems, from large-scale medical applications for
the NHS, to remote email systems for SME's. |

Remote Working with
Expandable IT
The demand for remote access to company
networks has never been greater, with more and more
businesses introducing home working schemes and/or
requiring their employees to have access to their
business files whilst "on the road", during meetings
with clients, or in the evenings and weekends.
Expandable IT excels at providing such services, and
have implemented a number of remote networking
solutions. Our clients range from large-scale
medical applications for the NHS to remote email
systems for SME's.
Work from Home with VPN
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) enables a user to
create a secure 'tunnel' from a point on a network
(or the Internet) to a server on the same network
(or the Internet). This then allows the access of
network resources securely through the tunnel (i.e.
the client machine becomes part of the host
network).Citrix
METAFRAME
Citrix has rapidly become one of the most renowned
application sharing systems available. It allows you
to present an application on a network (or the
Internet) and make it available to a client machine
from anywhere that has network connectivity. It does
this by using a web-browser as the portal to the
application. Ideal for businesses who need to make
applications and data available to team members who
are in the field via dialup networking or an
Internet connection.

Microsoft Terminal
Services
Terminal services can allow a company to share
applications hosted on a single server to many
client machines. In addition, it can provide a
Windows desktop to a "thin client" machine (i.e. a
machine with little internal hardware such as RAM
and hard disk capacity) through a thin-client
interface. The use of thin clients can
drastically reduce costs for businesses looking to
upgrade or purchase new network hardware and
software. Terminal Services is also commonly used by
system-administrators to maintain Windows 2000 and
2003 servers remotely.
Outlook Web Access
(Email)
Outlook Web Access is a system within Microsoft
Exchange Server which allows a company to present a
secure mail server over a network. This means that
mobile team members can access their email from
anywhere with Internet access. This allows
users to send and receive their business emails from
anywhere in the world, at the touch of a button.
